I remember sitting in my bedroom, as a teenager, working on an illustration. As I was drawing, it occurred to me I couldn't imagine my life without art. After winning my college's tuition scholarship, I felt a little bit more confident to pursue graphic design. (Despite the fact I had no idea how to turn on a Macintosh computer.) The Modern College of Design prepped me for my career ahead. I graduated in the top five of my class and won two design awards. 

In 2002, my corporate career started at PrintManagement in Cincinnati where I was quickly given opportunities to grow my design skills. Starting out working in a print-shop proved to be such a valuable experience. I learned early on all it took to get my designs from the computer to paper.

In 2006 I became Design Director for Steadfast Studios which later rebranded and became BrandingGround. Having so many opportunities to work with great teams, vendors and clients all contributed to my growth as a designer and leader in this creative industry.

In 2014 I was pregnant with my fourth kiddo and it was time for me to launch out on my own in order to juggle busy mom life with the work that I love. I operated as Val Hoffman Design, LLC for 10 years before rebranding as Spruce+Spice Creative.

And here we are today—looking forward to what God has in store for the next 10 years+!
